Assisting You With The Stressful Issue Of Child Support

According to the surgeon general, divorce is one of the most stressful events that anyone can experience. Among the most contentious and complicated elements of divorce is child support.

You need my firm, The Karenko Law Firm PLLC, by your side when you are seeking child support. I have been practicing family law for more than 30 years. I understand that you only want the best for your children. At my firm, you are a person, not a number. Child Support In Texas: What To Know

Child support payments will not come to an end until the child turns 18 or graduates from high school, whichever comes first. A parent can extend support, however, in circumstances where the child has special needs, either physically or mentally, and is still depending on the parent for care and support. There are also cases where additional support may be needed for the child to earn a college education.

In exceptional cases, the court may also consider extraordinary expenses such as health care costs or other child care costs. When determining child support, the court will always rule in favor of the child’s best interests. You can also petition to change a support agreement if there is a substantial change in your circumstances since the court implemented the agreement.

How Much Will You Receive?

How does the court determine the amount of child support? In Texas, child support depends on the following factors:

  • Your net income
  • How much your ex earns
  • How many children require support

Child support determinations are complex. When you consult me at The Karenko Law Firm PLLC, I can give you a ballpark estimate of the amount of support that would be fair. I take the time to carefully investigate your case, seek out any income sources your ex may be concealing, and keep you fully informed regarding your legal options. If your ex is not paying the full amount to you, I can work to enforce your court order.
